Investigators Serve Search Warrants, Convicted Felons Arrested, Firearms, a Suppressor, Drugs, and a Vehicle Seized

Following months-long investigations into the distribution and sales of illegal and deadly drugs in our community, Spokane Valley Investigative Unit (SVIU) Detectives established probable cause to arrest two suspects for Delivery of a Controlled Substance and obtained search warrants for two separate locations. Assisted by the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF), SWAT Team, Spokane County Sheriff’s Investigative Unit (SCIU), and RAVEN (Regional Anti-Violence Enforcement & Narcotics), SVIU Detectives served the search warrants. As a result, they arrested the two suspects and others, in addition to seizing firearms, a suppressor, illicit drugs, and a vehicle.

As part of months-long investigations into the illegal sale and distribution of controlled substances, Spokane Valley Investigative Unit (SVIU) Detectives established probable cause to charge 45-year-old Ryan L. Patterson, a 16-time Convicted Felon, with three counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance.   Additionally, they established probable cause to arrest 36-year-old Karena R. Hansen, an 8-time Convicted Felon, for one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.   They also obtained two search warrants for homes in the 800 block of S. Sherman Street and the 3100 block of N. Crestline Street.

Information gained during this extensive investigation showed Patterson, a 16-time Convicted Felon, is known to have access to and possess weapons.   His criminal convictions include charges of Attempt to Elude LE, Possession Controlled Substance (2 counts), Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Criminal Mischief-Deadly Weapon, No Contact/Protection Order Violation, Tampering with a Witness, Cyberstalking, Theft 2nd Degree, Taking a Motor Vehicle w/o Permission (2 Counts), Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree-Deadly Weapon, Reckless Burning, Possession of Stolen Property in addition to a lengthy local criminal history that dates back to at least 1999.

Hansen, an 8-time Convicted Felon, has convictions for Taking Motor Vehicle w/o Permission, Theft 2nd Degree, Forgery, Complicit Possession of Stolen Property (3 counts), Possession of Stolen Property (2 counts), along with a lengthy local criminal history dating back to 2010.

On August 31, 2026, SVIU Detectives, U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF), SWAT Team, Spokane County Sheriff’s Investigative Unit (SCIU), and RAVEN (Regional Anti-Violence Enforcement & Narcotics) served the search warrants, and they took Patterson and Hansen into custody without incident.

They contacted and arrested 29-year-old Seth J. Watson on a valid Theft 3rd Degree arrest warrant.  Despite being asked if he had any illegal drugs on his person, which he denied, and warned about the consequences if he did, before he was brought into the jail, he made the choice not to disclose that he indeed had a bag of drugs hidden in his underwear, which Spokane County Detention Services Officers located during a thorough search.  Watson attempted to ingest the illegal contraband, but Corrections Officers quickly put an end to that ill-conceived plan.  The 2.2 grams of suspected Fentanyl Powder was seized, and Watson received an additional felony charge of Prisoner Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Jail Facility.

Saebre L. Dickenson was arrested for an active misdemeanor warrant for Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree.

Through this investigation, the following items were located and seized:

  • 4.5 ounces of suspected Fentanyl
  • 2 grams of suspected Methamphetamine
