— Dr. Luis Fernández-Sanz, president of CEPIS
BERLIN, GERMANY, September 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- BERLIN — Skill[set] 2026, the 3rd International Conference on Digital Skills, IT Professionalism and Informatics Education, has opened its Call for Papers and Call for Presentations. Co-organised by CEPIS (Council of European Professional Informatics Societies) and the German Informatics Society (GI), the conference takes place on 3 and 4 December 2026 in Berlin. The submission deadline is 20 September 2026, with notification of acceptance in early October.
Skill[set], formerly the ICODSIP conference series, brings together researchers, educators, policymakers, and practitioners to examine how competences in computing, data, and digital technologies are developing, and how professional roles, educational pathways, and societal expectations around digital competence are evolving alongside them. The 2026 edition is structured around three thematic tracks: IT professionalism, informatics and e-competences; digital competences and skills; and informatics and digital education.
A transversal focus on digital sustainability
Running across all three tracks is a transversal focus on digital sustainability. The framing is deliberately broad: beyond environmental concerns, it takes in digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, digital accessibility, programmed obsolescence, and the question of how the sector develops responsibly. These conditions shape how digital skills are taught, how IT professionals operate, and how societies navigate digital transformation. Selected contributions on digital sustainability will be eligible for extended publication in the open-access journal Sustainability.
Two formats: papers and presentations
Submissions are invited in two formats, both addressing the same thematic tracks. The Call for Papers is intended for research and innovation contributions with a methodological, theoretical, or empirical foundation. Accepted full and short papers will be included in the conference proceedings, published in the GI Lecture Notes in Informatics (LNI) series with an ISSN and assigned dedicated DOIs, giving accepted work a permanent, citable scholarly record.
The Call for Presentations is intended for practical experiences, case studies, and emerging ideas, offering practitioners a platform to share applied projects and good practices and to engage with the community. This format is particularly suited to EU-funded projects seeking dissemination among practitioners working in the conference's fields, and is open to other international and national projects with relevant applicability. Accepted project presentations will be included in the proceedings as short project papers.
Submissions for both formats are open now at skillset-itconf.eu until 20 September 2026.
